Welcome 2016 + Hell Week

January 2, 2016

Hey 46ers,

I hope you guys had some great Holidays, and enjoyed your extra time away from the gym. We are going to start 2016 off with a hell-week, so you guys can get some new numbers in your notebooks.

We just had a break, but not long enough of one that anyone should be "out of shape" all the sudden, even if you feel a little soft around the edges. Go hard this week, stay safe, and burn off all those Christmas drinks and treats.

Word to the wise:

It is worth mentioning this every Hell-Week, that it is not wise to do 5 days in a row of this programming. The reason for this, is that this week especially we have a lot of heavy lifts, and some real high-intensity workouts that are going to tax your systems in a big way. After day 2 or 3 of programming like this, your body will need some recovery time, and your ability to push in the metcons is going to decrease significantly as even though you may not feel sore/worn out, you're central nervous system has taken a major hit. My advice is to pick 2-3 days total to hit(4 if you're going Saturday), and ensure that you are getting rest at some point. I would recommend 2 days in a row tops, and if you go on the third day in a row don't expect to be able to push yourself as hard. It is worth mentioning that the people most at risk for overdoing it here are those with a longer training history, and are able to really push their limits. So, just because you're a veteran, doesn't mean that this advice should fall on deaf ears. Beginners and veterans alike, have fun, push it, but don't overdo it.

Best of luck in 2016, don't set limits, explore your potential :)
